This interactive session for students in grades 4 to 6 introduces black holes through an exploration of how they form, how gravity works and how black holes affect the universe around them.
Students will learn about stellar collapse, the role of gravity, and phenomena such as gravitational lensing, supernovae, and the bending of light around black holes. The session will include brief slides, a hands-on “fabric of spacetime” demonstration, and visual animations to help students better visualize spacetime and gravity.
Led by a graduate student in the Princeton University Department of Astrophysical Sciences and a Princeton High School Student.
