This hourlong class is designed to help internet and app users understand what information is being collected about them, who collects it, how it is used and what the risks are.

In today's connected world, every tap, click and swipe can leave behind a trail of personal data. This hourlong class is designed to help everyday internet and app users understand what information is being collected about them, who collects it, how it is used and what the risks are. We will explore how your data powers everything from personalized ads to subtle forms of price discrimination—where two people may see different prices for the same product. We’ll also examine how attackers can use your personal details in social engineering scams to trick you or steal your identity. You’ll leave this session with real-world examples of data misuse and clear, actionable steps to protect your privacy and security. Whether you're new to the topic or just need a refresher, this class will empower you to take control of your digital life. Instructor: Jun Zhang
