Learn the foundations of digital oral history from library staff involved with the Voices of Princeton initiative. For beginners and experienced participants.
As the first part of a three-part series, “Designing the Project” takes a broad view of digital oral history, covering project design, community engagement, the consent process, equipment and software for audio processing, transcription and a web presence, and community archiving. Using the Voices of Princeton initiative as an example, this session also highlights ways in which community members may get involved in the initiative’s special projects for the U.S. Semiquincentennial.
This workshop may be pursued on its own or as part of the series. As computers in the Technology Center are limited to 12, participants may bring their own laptop or mobile device.
Each workshop will be offered in an afternoon and evening session.
