Learn the foundations of digital oral history from library staff involved with the Voices of Princeton initiative. For beginners and experienced participants.
As the second part of a three-part series, “Collecting Interviews” digs into the practice of digital oral history, showing how to get from the general level of project design to the essential work of facilitating interviews and working in partnership to establish priorities for story collecting. Participants in this session will get hands-on practice with interviewing narrators, review essentials during the pre-interview process, and operating equipment available through the Library of Things Collection. Using the Voices of Princeton initiative as an example, this session also highlights ways in which community members may get involved the initiative’s special projects for the U.S. Semiquincentennial.
This workshop may be pursued on its own or as part of the series. As computers in the Technology Center are limited to 12, participants may bring their own laptop or mobile device.
Each workshop will be offered in an afternoon and evening session.
