Meet the artists exhibiting in the Princeton Environmental Film Festival's art show "Shaped by Earth, Moved By Water" and the photographers whose works are part of "The Poetry of Nature."
The evening will begin in the Community Room with a brief panel discussion featuring the five artists exhibiting in "Shaped by Earth, Moved by Water," on view in the library’s second-floor Reading Room through April 26. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet the winning photographers from the Stony Brook Garden Club’s annual exhibition, themed "The Poetry of Nature," which closes March 14. Afterward, head to the second floor to view both exhibitions and enjoy light refreshments with the artists.
More about the Exhibits:
"Shaped by Earth, Moved by Water" brings together the work of five Princeton-area artists, Mary Waltham, Susan Hoenig, Liz Cutler, Clem Fiori, and Karen Tuveson, in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Princeton Environmental Film Festival. Working across photography, painting, pressed botanicals, and sustainably created media, the artists reflect a wide range of approaches while sharing a deep engagement with the natural world. Their works move from cinematic landscapes to intimate studies of plant life, inviting close observation and reflection on environmental change, sustainability, and the intertwined systems that shape both land and water.
“The Poetry of Nature” is a juried photography exhibition featuring 30 works by members of the Stony Brook Garden Club, a member of the Garden Club of America since 1945. Organized into six themed classes, the exhibition invited photographers to draw inspiration from selected poems, resulting in images that celebrate nature and the beauty of flowers.
