A panel featuring local South Asian authors discusses the complexities of identity and the power of storytelling. Moderated by Ambreen Ali of Central Desi.
Following the discussion, chai and desi snacks will be served as the library celebrates AAPI Heritage Month in collaboration with Central Desi, a local news outlet covering New Jersey’s South Asian community.
The panel will be moderated by Ambreen Ali, founding editor of Central Desi, and will feature:
Pooja Makhijani, author of "Mama’s Saris" and "Bread is Love"
Namrata Patel, author of the upcoming "The Curious Secrets of Yesterday"
Priyanka Taslim, author of "The Love Match"
F.S. Yousaf, author of the upcoming "Oaths," his fifth poetry collection
The featured authors will discuss how identity has shaped their work, what it means to portray cultural heritage and why they tell these stories. Books will be available for sale and signing by the authors.
From reflections on heritage to the impact of diaspora, this panel offers a chance to connect around insightful conversation that celebrates the rich tapestry of South Asian literature.
