Community RoomThe PBS documentary "Aging in America: Survive or Thrive" is screened, followed by a panel discussion led by Drew Dyson of CMAP. Refreshments will be served starting at 4:45 pm.
The one-hour PBS documentary "Aging in America: Survive or Thrive" explores the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly aging population. Drawing on the work of pioneering gerontologist Dr. Robert Butler, the film examines issues including health care, economic insecurity and ageism, while also highlighting innovative approaches to supporting older adults. As Americans live longer and the population ages at an unprecedented rate, the documentary considers how communities, institutions and public policies can adapt.
Following the screening, Drew Dyson, executive director of the Center for Modern Aging Princeton (CMAP), will lead a discussion about the film’s themes and the importance of creating communities that support healthy and positive aging, independence and well-being at every stage of life. The panel includes:
Lisa Bayer, community relations and dementia specialist at CMAP. She holds a BA from Rutgers College and brings a deep commitment to supporting older adults and their families. Her career includes roles as director of marketing & education and dementia specialist at Always Best Care of Central NJ, and director of LearningRx, a brain training center.
Mira Berzofsky, executive director of Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County. A Mercer County resident with more than 20 years of leadership experience, Mira specializes in building strategic alliances and navigating complex organizational growth. She holds an MBA in healthcare management and has decades of experience within faith-based and community-based organizations.
