Participants join a five-week course introducing Latin as a language for reading, writing, and communication and exploring Roman culture.

Weekly meetings led by student volunteers support at-home study through interactive learning and games. Sessions of "Elementa" at the library are organized into five-week units, in order to allow for intermittent commitments. Learners should be able to complete the entire course over the span of a single school year.

"Elementa" is designed for teens in the middle school years while elementary age learners and young adults have opportunities to study Latin through "Teaching Literacy with Latin" and "Living Latin" respectively. Mature learners interested in studying Latin should contact the instructor by email: humanities@princetonlibrary.org.

To learn more about the "Elementa" curriculum, see the Paideia Institute's webpage for the course.
