Fiona Tyndall and Ben Steinfeld take their audience on a musical journey from Ireland to America during this concert on Hinds Plaza.
Fiona Tyndall is a recording artist and vocalist focused on traditional language culture and song. Ben Steinfeld is an actor, director, writer, musician, and adjunct professor and artistic associate at NYU-Gallatin. The concert will include several traditional songs and some well known cover songs that Tyndall recorded during the pandemic.
Fiona Tyndall grew up in County Clare and lived in Ireland until 2000, when she moved to the United States. Her dedication to the Irish language and her work ethic can be seen in her first recording "Déirín Dé," a collection of traditional songs in the Irish language. She has developed a number of shows blending Irish and Scottish music, including "Shamrock and Thistle," which she was performing regionally before COVID.
Ben Steinfeld is co-artistic director of the acclaimed Fiasco Theater. As an actor, Steinfeld has performed on Broadway for the Roundabout Theatre Company and Off-Broadway for Fiasco, the Barrow Street Theatre, the New Victory Theatre and Folger Theatre. In the summer of 2016, he made his London acting and directing debut with Fiasco’s "Into the Woods" at the Menier Chocolate Factory. He received the LA Drama Critics Circle award for co-directing the recent national tour of "Into the Woods." His television and film acting work includes "Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight," "Callahan," “The Deuce.” “The Good Wife” and “Law & Order: Criminal Intent." In the spring of 2017, he was a guest lecturer at Princeton University, and he has narrated several young people’s concerts with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. He is a graduate of Brown University and the Brown/Trinity MFA Program.
