Join us for a discussion of "A Sand County Almanac" by Aldo Leopold. Executive director of the Aldo Leopold Foundation, Buddy Huffaker will be joining the discussion.
Presented in partnership with the Friends of Princeton Open Space and the Princeton Environmental Film Festival, this series is dedicated to readings about conservation, stewardship, and our relationship with nature. Led by Diana Newby, FOPOS board member and Associate Director of Writing at Princeton University, each meeting includes a discussion of the book and an accompanying activity. Registration is requested.
About the book
First published in 1949, Aldo Leopold's A Sand County Almanac remains an enduring and beloved work of literature. It is also a foundational text in wildlife ecology, envisioning and embracing an ethic that treats land not as a commodity but as a community of soil, water, plants, and animals. Leopold's book has inspired, delighted, and sustained countless readers around the world.

Drive down the long paved driveway entrance to the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve, marked by a series of black mailboxes along Mountain Avenue. The gravel parking lot is located on the left, approximately 1/2 mile down the driveway.
