Library staff lead a hybrid book discussion of "Out Loud" by choreographer Mark Morris in advance of Princeton University Concerts' event with Morris and Ara Guzelimian.
Register to attend in person or click here to receive the Zoom link.
This hybrid book group offers the opportunity to explore Morris’s artistic journey, from his unconventional childhood in Seattle to the founding of the groundbreaking Mark Morris Dance Group, and the triumphs and tribulations that followed. Book group participants will have the chance to submit a question in advance for Mark Morris to answer during his Princeton University Concerts event.
About the book: From the most “successful and influential choreographer alive” (The New York Times), "Out Loud" is the story of a fiercely independent artist finding his voice—and his movement—on his own terms. Writing with the same boldness, humor, and precision that defines his choreography, Morris recounts his evolution from a 6-year-old dancing on Tupperware cups to his groundbreaking collaborations with Yo-Yo Ma, Mikhail Baryshnikov and beyond. A love letter to music, movement and the power of individuality, "Out Loud" offers a rare glimpse behind the curtain at the life of a joyous provocateur.
This book group discussion is held in advance of the Princeton University Concerts' Oct. 8 event with Mark Morris, "The Dance Lives On: Contemplating Artistic Legacy."
Presented in partnership with Princeton University Concerts.
