Stewart Prager and other speakers will discuss the importance of nuclear threat reduction and the need for nuclear disarmament. Songs of peace will be performed by The Solidarity Singers of NJ.
Keynote speaker at this event commemorating the 78th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki is Stewart Prager, professor emeritus of astrophysical sciences at Princeton University, and an affiliated faculty member with the Program on Science and Global Security (SGS). His current activity is concentrated on the Physicists Coalition for Nuclear Threat Reduction – an organization to inform, engage and activate physicists on the issue of nuclear threat reduction, of which he is a co-founder.
Also speaking are Erica DeKranes, a member of the Coalition For Peace Action's Board of Directors, who will bring her experience as Councilwoman in Allentown Borough (NJ) and a Senior Officer of Resource Mobilization at VisionSpring, as well as her own perspective as a millennial, to today's nuclear disarmament conversation. And CFPA's summer intern, Sofia DaCruz, will give us an update on the "No Wars, No Warming" Campaign.
The evening will conclude with all being invited to sing songs of peace that will be led by The Solidarity Singers of The New Jersey State Industrial Union Council. Origami Cranes will be folded throughout the evening.
Beginning at 6 p.m., attendees are invited to bring their own picnic meal to enjoy on Hinds Plaza prior to the program. Cookies and cold soft drinks will be provided.
This program is co-sponsored by the Coalition for Peace Action.
