Vivia Font of the Princeton Actors Collective and Ameet Doshi present a staged reading of this modern-day retelling of Homer's classic.
Poetry and humor, the ancient tale of the Trojan War and the modern world collide in this captivating theatrical experience. The setting is simple: the empty theater. The time is now: the present moment. The lone figure onstage is a storyteller.
Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare workshopped and premiered this powerful re-telling at McCarter Theater and New York Theatre Workshop over a decade ago. Vivia Font of the Princeton Actors Collective and Ameet Doshi revisit with a look at the narrator's voice, and an electric spin in this staged reading.
This performance contains mature content and language.

Ameet Doshi is head of the Donald E. Stokes Library at Princeton University, guitarist, and jazz pianist. He was born in Chicago, IL and has lived and worked in Tennessee, New Zealand, North Carolina, and Atlanta, GA. As a teenager he began playing electric guitar while also discovering random LPs in his parent's collection including 1960s Bollywood soundtracks, the Grateful Dead, and the Velvet Underground. His guitar style reflects this eclectic background. As an undergraduate student, Ameet undertook coursework in Jazz Studies at the University of Tennessee with Donald Brown (formerly of the renowned "Jazz Messengers") and Jerry Coker, and later attended and performed at the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Workshop held at the University of Louisville. He also played guitar in a rock quartet in Knoxville, TN for several years and worked at a local radio station, WUTK 90.3 FM. More recently, he co-hosted a radio show and podcast on WREK 91.1 FM Atlanta called Lost in the Stacks combining his interests in literature, libraries, and rock n' roll. Ameet and his family are incredibly grateful to have access to such a wonderful public library. On weekends he can often be found lost in the stacks at PPL.
