A 13-piece band of Einstein Alley musicians performs songs from 1966 by artists including The Beatles, Neil Diamond, The Temptations, The Beach Boys and many others. Rain date is July 26.
The 1960s were known for great music and memorable tunes that conjure up memories to do this day. Memories like driving in the car on a warm summer day and listening to Top 40 AM stations. Sitting on the beach and grooving to the latest rock 'n' roll hits. Loading up your portable record player with 45s at a dance party. Listening to your favorite DJ on your pocket transistor radio under the covers when you were supposed to be asleep.
1966, in particular, was a turning point for music. It was the last year before "psychedelic" rock and album-oriented FM radio. It was the beginning of the end for "two minutes and thirty seconds" singles. Beatlemania and the British Invasion were in full swing. 1966 saw the debut of "The Monkees" on NBC. Kids would make up their own Top 40 lists and bring them to school, devour the numerous weekly fan magazines and papers sponsored by radio stations and rush home after school to watch "Where The Action Is" on ABC.
While that era is long gone, numerous tribute bands tour the country, keeping those classic tunes alive - and some even feature original members of the bands. Thanks to streaming services, those hits continue to be enjoyed by all ages.
A dedicated group of Einstein Alley musicians is bringing back that era with a 13-piece band that will take you on a musical journey through the songs of 1966 featuring music from The Beatles, The Lovin' Spoonful, The Mamas & The Papas, Donovan, Neil Diamond, The Temptations, The Beach Boys, and more, all hosted by our own Top 40 DJ.
The 1966 Show musicians include:
John Mazzeo (guitar), Andrew Wax (guitar/vocals), David Lorenzetti (vocals), Bob Belloff (guitar/vocals), Laura Manfredi (bass/vocals), Wayne DiBiasio (bass), Eric Heller (drums), David Ross (drums), Rob Calarco (drums), Pete Putman (keyboards), Ron Klein (saxophone and flute), Jim Brockman (trumpet), Jim Barnosky (trombone), and your Top 40 DJ for the show, George Achaves.
Note: In case of rain, The 1966 Show will be held Saturday, July 26.
