The Princeton Go League is designed to simulate tournament play. Players in the League will have the opportunity to play in-person games of Go against people of a similar rank. This event will allow beginners to acclimate to tournament play without affecting their official ratings. Game clocks and equipment will be provided.
At the beginning of the day, players will be paired up through a tournament software. From there, players will play a first game. Winners will play tougher opponents, while losers will play weaker opponents. At the end of the tournament, players will have a better understanding of their true rank. Each player should have the opportunity to play at least three games during the day.
The league is primarily aimed at beginners, as the goal is to have more beginners play in tournaments. Players will have to sign up for the league in advance. However, there are no restrictions on who can play.
