Discover and learn about all things zine at this daylong event which includes workshops and talks in the morning, a zine marketplace in the afternoon and other activities throughout the day.
The inaugural Princeton Zine Fest is being held as part of New Jersey Makers Day to encourage our community to learn more about zine culture and to start making their own zines.
What is a Zine?
Pronounced ZEEN, it is short for magazine or fanzine. Zines are small-circulation, self-published/DIY, pamphlet-like publications. They are created in a wide variety of genres and usually reproduced via a copy machine
The morning will feature workshops and talks related to zine culture, collecting and creation as follows:
Second floor Newsroom:
Third floor STEAM Studio:
There will be dedicated space on the third floor from 2-4 p.m. for creating zines. All are welcome to participate in this drop-in activity. Supplies and prompts will be provided, and a staff member will be on hand to answer questions.
From noon to 5 p.m., there will be a zine marketplace in the Community Room featuring a wide array of zinesters as well as local zine collections from the Arts Council of Princeton, Rutgers University and the Trenton Free Public Library. Browse, barter or buy wares by zinesters from near and far while meeting fellow artists.
