Labyrinth BooksWriters on Writing is an ongoing series of conversations about process and craft, hosted by Amy Jo Burns and Anica Mrose Rissi, with acclaimed guest authors from various sections of the bookstore.
Join acclaimed authors Amy Jo Burns ("Wait for Me"), Caitlin Mullen ("Heather)", Anica Mrose Rissi ("Girl Reflected in Knife"), and Nisha Sharma ("Illusions of Fire") for a conversation about the
craft of writing. In this third installment of the series, the authors will discuss endings, including how to find the right ending for a manuscript, strategies for getting there,
what the ending might reveal about how to revise the beginning, and how to know when a draft or revision is actually done. Curious readers and aspiring writers of all genres are welcome.
Amy Jo Burns’ latest novel, "Wait for Me," was the "Today Show" Read With Jenna pick for
March, 2026. She is also the author of "Cinderland," "Shiner" and "Mercury,"
which was a Barnes & Noble Book Club Pick, a People Magazine Book of the Week, and an
Editor’s Choice selection in The New York Times. A western Pennsylvania native, she lives in
New Jersey with her family.
Caitlin Mullen is the author of "Please See Us," which won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel
and was named a New York Times best crime novel of the year, and "Heather," a national bestseller
and New York Times Editors’ Choice pick. She lives in New Jersey with her husband and
children.
Anica Mrose Rissi is the award-winning author of more than a dozen books for kids and teens,
including picture books, chapter books, middle grade, and YA. Her essays have been published
by The Writer and The New York Times, and she plays fiddle in and writes lyrics for the band
Owen Lake and the Tragic Loves. Anica grew up in Maine and spent many years in New York
City, where she worked as an executive editor in children’s book publishing. She lives in Central
New Jersey with her very good dog, Sweet Potato, and teaches in the Writing for Children &
Young Adults low-residency MFA program at VCFA.
Nisha Sharma, J.D., M.F.A., is an award winning writer, scholar and former corporate culture
executive with over 10 books for teens and adults and more than 10 years experience in diversity,
equity and inclusion work. Her novels have been praised by The New York Times, NPR,
Entertainment Weekly, Cosmopolitan, The Washington Post, Time Magazine and more. When
she’s not championing narratives about radical joy or working towards her PhD in literature and
social justice, Nisha likes to spend time with her husband, baby daughter and pets named after
characters in her favorite books. She lives in the Philadelphia suburbs and you can find her
online at www.Nisha-Sharma.com or on TikTok and Instagram @nishawrites.
Join us for an evening of lively discussion, audience Q&A and creative community.
