Community Room

Create a flower for a fun and colorful community art display celebrating the arrival of spring. Patterns and yarn will be supplied; bring your own needles/hooks if possible. Registration requested.

Items created in this workshop will be used to decorate the exterior of the library, the front entrance of the Arts Council and other community locations as part of the community-wide "Yarn Blooming: A Fiber Arts Display." The displays will be installed in May, Mental Health Awareness Month, to promote the benefits of yarn crafting on mental wellbeing.

Participants creating a flower should have basic knitting or crochet skills. Patterns for ladybugs, leaves and other spring-inspired items will be available for those whose skills are more advanced. Please bring your own knitting needles or crochet hooks, if possible, as the library's supplies are limited. Larger sizes are best for this project. Registration is requested, but not required.

You may also create an item of your choice for the project at home. Be sure to drop it off in the collection basket on the library's first floor by May 12 so that we may include it in the installation. Kits will also be available at the Welcome Desk.

Handcrafted spring items created at the Women of Princeton Employee Resource Group workshops as part of the project will also be displayed at the Firestone Library East Plaza.


“Yarn Blooming: A Fiber Arts Display” is a collaborative community art project of the Women of Princeton Employee Resource Group, the Arts Council of Princeton and the library.
