Paula Alekson of McCarter Theatre Center hosts the annual event where Shakespeare's sonnets are read aloud. All are welcome as readers or listeners.
This event is an opportunity for both reunion and welcoming newcomers to the joy of reading Shakespearean poetry aloud. Intended for all ages and experience levels, this is a fun and informal way to experience Shakespeare’s gift to poetic posterity. No previous experience with Shakespeare or the sonnets is necessary.
Readers will be selected at random to draw sonnet numbers to read to the audience.
A volume of the Shakespeare's Sonnets for the lectern will be supplied, but please bring your own copy if you would like to read along.
All are invited; no registration necessary.
Presented in partnership with McCarter Theatre Center.
