This virtual series is for advanced beginners and intermediate players, ages 6 through 12. Registration required.
The Youth Chess Workshop Series is designed for players who already know the rules of chess. Each session, Robert Lazorchak, Diplomat Chess owner and program director, will host an interactive lecture on a different topic followed by supervised game play. Lessons will include basic checkmating patterns, piece values and a simplification strategy and opening principles.
Registration will open two weeks before each session. Limited to 16 students.
Diplomat Chess partners with elementary schools to run after school chess clubs, tournaments, and summer camps. Lazorchak holds a master's degree in teaching and also teaches curriculum chess classes at Chatham Day School and Princeton Day School.
