The Emmy Award-winning journalist discusses her book with Princeton University's Khristina Gonzalez and Elizabeth Cohen. This event will be simulcast en Español.

"Once I Was You: A Memoir of Love and Hate in a Torn America," is a story of immigration in America told through the author's family's experiences and decades of reporting, that paints a portrait of a country in crisis. The book relates the history of U.S. immigration policy that has brought us to where we are today.

For 30 years, Hinojosa has reported on stories and communities in America that often go ignored. Bestselling author, Julia Alvarez, has called her "one of the most important, respected, and beloved cultural leaders in the Latinx community."

"Fui como Tu: Una autobiografía de Amor y Odio en una America Desgarrada", es una historia de inmigración en Estados Unidos contada a través de las experiencias de la familia de la autora y décadas de reportajes, que pinta un retrato de un país en crisis. El libro relata la historia de la política de inmigración de Estados Unidos que nos ha llevado a donde estamos hoy. Durante 30 años, Hinojosa ha informado sobre historias y comunidades en Estados Unidos que a menudo son ignoradas. Elizabeth F. Cohen is Professor of Political Science at Syracuse University and Associate Editor of the American Journal of Political Science. She is the 2020-2021 Laurance S. Rockefeller Visiting Faculty Fellow at Princeton University, and her research interests focus on immigration, contemporary political theory, justice, citizenship and rights.
