Trenton Children's Chorus and Trenton Music Makers Chamber Orchestra, the performance groups of Capital Harmony Works, present "A Black History Month Celebration: Songs of Hope, Unity, and Courage."
For this celebratory show for Black History Month, the two performing groups of Capital Harmony Works will present a wide repertoire of music that will include "What’s Going On" by Marvin Gaye, "Fuga Con Pajarillo" by Aldemaro Romero and everything in between.
Music drawn from the African-American experience as well as original works by Black composers will make up this stylistically diverse program.
Capital Harmony Works is the home of three creative youth development programs, gathering together young folks in New Jersey’s Capital City who shine a powerful light on what makes Trenton a great city. The programs run by Capital Harmony Works are Trenton Music Makers, an El Sistema-inspired string and percussion orchestra, Trenton Children’s Chorus, a renowned K-12 choirs, and Music for the Very Young, an award-winning pre-K program that runs in partnership with public preschools in Trenton and Ewing.
