Staff member Anna Lewis will give a tour of “Happy World,” a collaboration between artist Ik-Joong Kang and the community. The mural is a signature piece of public art in the Sands Library Building.
Discover the wonders of “Happy World” at a special tour in the library’s lobby. Created in 2004 by Ik-Joong Kang incorporating his artwork with artifacts contributed by the community, “Happy World” is both contemporary art and a reflection of the community at the turn of the 21st century. Find out where on the wall you can find Einstein’s playing cards, shark teeth donated by “Jaws” author Peter Benchley, and handwritten artifacts by Princeton notables such as Robert Oppenheimer, Paul Muldoon, George Kennan, Freeman Dyson and Trey Anastasio. We have Shirley Satterfield’s PHS Safety Patrol Badge, a mug from the Annex and a bell from the oldest bike shop in the nation and a lot more.
