Quantum technology has the potential to solve the world’s hardest problems that are beyond the reach of classical techniques. To lay the foundation, this talk will provide a business overview of the quantum market, including market size estimates, investment trends and important commercial activity. It will also describe the structure of the quantum ecosystem, which spans quantum computing, sensing, networking, cryptography and photonics.
Quantum computing is fast approaching commercial applicability. Mark will introduce the basics of this field including theory, and technology, applications, and commercial status. These include solutions for drug discovery, material science, finance, and cybersecurity. Mark will describe how to program a quantum computer, including methods to optimize its efficiency. Mark will finish by describing Quantinuum's “TKET” open-source architecture-agnostic quantum compiler.
About the Speakers:
Don Grust is one of the organizers of this meetup and the Managing Director of QuantumToMarket, an advisory firm that helps quantum companies commercialize their technology.
Dr. Mark Jackson is the Senior Quantum Evangelist at Quantinuum. He received his B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from Duke University and Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Columbia University. He then spent 10 years researching superstring theory and cosmology, co-authoring almost 40 technical articles. He is Adjunct Faculty at Singularity University and a Director of Astronomers Without Borders.
