The documentary film follows as Alaska looks to adopt a pair of election reforms that will eliminate traditional party primaries and allow voters to rank candidates by preference. Filmmaker AJ Schnack travels across the country interviewing reform supporters and opponents asking how the American electoral system become so dysfunctional, and whether it is possible that changing the way we vote might transform our entire system for the better.

Senator Andrew Zwicker is a physicist and a member of the New Jersey Senate representing Central NJ’s 16th Legislative District.
He serves as Chair of the Legislative Oversight Committee, Vice-Chair of the Higher Education and Labor Committees, and sits on theBudget and Appropriations Committee. Additionally, he is a memberof the Manufacturing Caucus, the Disability Caucus, the NJ
Commission on Science, Innovation, and Technology, and was Vice-Chair of the NJ Biotechnology Task Force. He served in the NJ GeneralAssembly from 2016 – 2021 where he was the Chair of the Science, Innovation and Technology Committee. His legislative focus includes the role of R&D as an economic driver, addressing global warming, and voting rights, among others.
Sam Wang, Ph.D. serves as the founding director of the Electoral Innovation Lab. Professor Wang has over two decades of experience translating data and science into practical action in American politics. With degrees in physics and neuroscience, he has taught and led research and policy work at Princeton University since 2000. Professor Wang’s past projects have included the Princeton Election Consortium, the Gerrymandering Project, and Representable. During his tenure, he oversaw partnerships with the U.S. Census Bureau and Department of Justice, the Attorney General of Maine, Secretary of State of Michigan, and nonpartisan citizen organizations including RepresentUS, Fair Districts GA, OneVirginia2021, and Open Primaries.
