Angela Reitter of Color Me Hoopy leads this high energy and interactive class for kids ages 7 and up. Class will be followed by an all-ages Hoop Party on the Plaza. Registration required.
This workshop will start with a performance by the instructor for inspiration. Then it's time for everyone to get moving and hooping! Participants will learn beginner friendly hoop moves, discover new hooping skills, drills and tricks sure to amaze family and friends. The class will end with learning off-body basics, handspins, ninja weaves, jump throughs and balancing.
Modifications will be made to accommodate all levels and a variety of custom hoops and additional flow props are provided for class use (or students may bring their own hoops).
Angela Reitter is a certified HoopLove Coach & Hoola-Fit instructor.
After the instructional session in the Community Room, kids will be invited to join in the Freestyle Hoop Dance Jam, led by Angela to lots of good tunes, on Hinds Plaza to practice and show off their new skills.
Hooping helps develop gross motor skills, balance, body awareness, muscular coordination and rhythm. Exercise in almost any form can act as a stress reliever, especially when it is fun and social. Being active boosts feel-good endorphins and helps improve your sense of well-being at any age.
Registration is required. Suggested age is 7 and older.
Presented in partnership with the Mayors Wellness Campaign community health initiative.
