Thomas Foley and Jen Simon of Princeton Unified Middle School discuss the importance of creating inclusive schools for LGBT+ students with author Kryss Shane.

Kryss Shane (she/her), author of "The Educator's Guide to LGBT+ Inclusion," is joined by educators Thomas Foley (he/him) and Jennifer Simon (she/her) of Princeton Public Schools to discuss the importance of creating schools that are safe and inclusive for LGBT+ students at all levels of schooling. Shane's book offers practical advice for K-12 teachers, administrators and school support staff. Foley and Simon are co-advisors for SAGA Club at Princeton Unified Middle School.

About the panelists: 

Kryss Shane (she/her) is named by The New York Times and many national and international platforms as America's go-to leading LGBT expert. She holds a MS, MSW, LSW, LMSW and 25+ years of experience guiding the world's top leaders in business, education, and community via individual, small group and full-staff trainings. 

Thomas Foley (he/him) is a school counselor at Princeton Unified Middle School where he co-advises the school's Sexuality and Gender Alliance and leads professional development related to creating inclusive classrooms for students in the LGBTQIA+ community. He holds a certificate in LGBT Health, Education, and Social Services from NYU and is in his third year as a school counselor.

Jen Simon (she/her) is the co-advisor of SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Alliance) at Princeton Unified Middle School, where she and Foley also teach professional development on creating inclusive classrooms for students in the LBGTQIA+ community. She has taught special education science and social studies at PUMS for 11 years.
